(The Hill) — Actress Julianna Margulies apologized Friday for recently claiming Black people were “brainwashed to hate Jews.”“I am horrified by the fact that statements I made on a recent podcast offended the Black and LGBTQIA+ communities, communities I truly love and respect,” Margulies said in a statement to Deadline. “I want to be 100% clear: Racism, homophobia, sexism, or any prejudice against anyone’s personal beliefs or identity are abhorrent to me, full stop,” Margulies continued. “Throughout my career I have worked tirelessly to combat hate of all kind, end antisemitism, speak out against terrorist groups like Hamas, and forge a united front against discrimination. I did not intend for my words to sow further division, for which I am sincerely apologetic.”On the The Back Room with Andy Ostroy podcast last Monday, Margulies claimed that Black people have been “brainwashed to hate Jews” and that a Black lesbian club at Columbia University put signs up saying “No Jews all...Texas groups say new EPA rule will sharply reduce methane emissions in the state

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Environmental Protection Agency finalized Saturday a rule that it says will sharply reduce the amount of methane and other harmful air pollutants emitted by the oil and natural gas industry. The EPA said the new rule promotes the latest cost-effective and innovative technologies that will prevent an estimated 58 million metric tons of methane emissions over the next 15 years. The organization said in the year 2030 alone, the expected reduction will be equal to 130 million metric tons of carbon dioxide, which is more than the annual emissions from 28 million gasoline cars.Methane is considered a climate "super pollutant," as it is more potent than carbon dioxide and contributes to about one third of the warming from greenhouse gases. The EPA said cutting back methane emission is "critical" to slowing the rate of climate change. Some Texas organizations said after the EPA announcement Saturday that the finalized rule is "a major win for the climate and public healt...Gophers football: Freshman phenom Darius Taylor decides to stay at the U

In the NCAA transfer portal era, college football players staying at the same program can be as newsworthy as those who decide to leave. On Saturday, true freshman running back Darius Taylor said he would remain with the Gophers for the 2024 season. Given the precocious start to his collegiate career and the poaching that can occur from big, deeper-pocketed programs, this represents a big win for Minnesota.Taylor’s early success with the Gophers induced warnings from head coach P.J. Fleck that Taylor might leave the U for another school — with name, image and likeness (NIL) compensation a consideration.Comparisons were made to Mar’Keise “Bucky” Irving, a true freshman who left Minnesota via the portal for Oregon before the 2022 season. With the help of the Ducks’ robust NIL collective and the deep pockets of Nike founder Phil Knight, Irving has since had two 1,000-yard rushing seasons for the championship-contending Ducks. But Taylor allayed those comparisons and concerns with a messa...Ryan Hartman eager to rejoin rejuvenated Wild

Ryan Hartman returned to the Wild on Saturday with a new haircut and a new line, but the spirited forward was the same as ever after a 40-minute practice at TRIA Rink.Asked about the televised — but, alas, not subtitled — conversation he had with Detroit’s Mortiz Seider while the two were in the penalty box during a 4-1 loss last Sunday in Detroit, Hartman said, “He asked me to fight, so I said, ‘Let’s fight when we get out of the box,’ and he said no.“So, I called his bluff, I think.”Seider had come to the defense of Alex DeBrincat after Hartman took the Red Wings forward’s feet out front under him. The NHL suspended Hartman two games for the slew foot on Monday, the same day Wild general manager Bill Guerin fired Dean Evason as head coach.“That wasn’t intentional,” Hartman said.Regardless, he has been an observer for the Wild’s first two games under new coach John Hynes, convincing victories against St. Louis and Nashville.
