Gray clouds and rain were moving toward metro Denver and meteorologists were anticipating rain and night thunderstorms Monday night, with possible snow, leading into a turbulent rainy week.The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather watch for Colorado’s mountains, where more than a foot of snow is expected as storms approach, reaching the Front Range Interstate 25 corridor late Monday and Tuesday.The high temperature in Denver on Monday will be 64 degrees, weather service forecasters said. Temperatures are expected to decrease to the mid 40s Tuesday and Wednesday before hitting 66 degrees Thursday. Big Bear Mountain Resort announced that Sunday was the last day to ski or snowboard at Bear Mountain for the season, marking the end of a historic winter at the Southern California mountain.Snow Summit, the other hill at Big Bear Mountain Resort, will remain open through the end of April for snow sports enthusiasts.Over the course of the winter season, Big Bear Mountain Resort saw over 240 inches of natural snowfall, as multiple winter storms pushed through the region. EL CERRITO — A man died in a hail of gunfire Sunday afternoon, police said.Officers responded to the 900 block of Galvin Drive about 4:30 p.m. after callers reported that several shots were fired, according to a news release from El Cerrito police. They found the man down in the street when they arrived.Paramedics treated him at the scene, and a medical helicopter took him to a hospital trauma center to be treated. He died there, police said.The homicide is the first in El Cerrito since Jan. 31, 2022. Authorities did not identify the victim immediately pending notification of his next of kin but said he was approximately 20 years old.Police have not made any arrests and did not have a full description of the suspect.
