TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The word "relentless" was throw around quite a bit by the RPI men's hockey team at its' media day Wednesday morning. That's the brand of play the team intends to bring to the ice in the 2023-'24 season. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! The Engineers have also brought back a wealth of talent and experience, returning six of its' top eight scorers. They also bring back a familiar face in goal in Jack Watson, who started 30 games as a sophomore last year. That experience has led to a cohesive unit in the early going this season. "I really like the makeup of our returning guys," said head coach Dave Smith. "Last year, we were filled with inexperience. Those guys gathered valuable lessons, and grew a lot. Now what we're seeing in the early part of the season is that the habits and the leadership and the chemistry behind the scenes has been excellent. I think that's attributed to the guys that learned a lot last...

“I think my wife’s a perfect partner,” a club player told me, “except for one thing: She expects me to be one also.”He and his wife were today’s East-West.“My wife led the K-A of diamonds against four hearts,” he said, “and I signaled high-low with the jack and deuce. When she led a third diamond, declarer ruffed high in dummy. He drew trumps, lost a club finesse to my king and claimed, pitching a spade on a good club.“My wife rarely complains and didn’t then, but I had a feeling I’d done something dreadful.”ATTITUDEEast’s defense was imperfect. His jack (then deuce) of diamonds was an “attitude” signal, requesting a diamond continuation. But what East needed was a spade shift to set up a spade trick while he had the king of clubs. On the first diamond, East should play the deuce, asking for the logical shift to spades.Nobody’s perfect; West might have shifted anyway. (A shift at Tr...

ROME (AP) — There are still blue-and-white streamers hanging over alleyways and banners all over the city celebrating Napoli’s first Serie A title since the days when Diego Maradona played for the club. There hasn’t been much to celebrate lately in the southern city, though. With only four wins in its opening eight matches and already two losses — both at home — Napoli is off to a much slower start to the season than it had a year ago when the Partenopei didn’t lose until January and remained unbeaten at home until March. So it’s plain to see why new Napoli coach Rudi Garcia is already under pressure, with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis meeting several times with the coach recently amid speculation that Antonio Conte or some other manager might be called in as a replacement.Garcia, the Frenchman who formerly coached Roma, was hired after Luciano Spalletti left Napoli saying he needed to take a season off. Spalletti then took over Italy’s national team when Roberto Mancini unexpec...
